Taxometer privacy policy

Your trip history stays on your device

Taxometer works without an account. Trip calculations and history are stored on-device; optional address lookup uses the device geocoding service or OpenStreetMap on the web.

Effective July 23, 2026

Data

Data the app handles

Location during an active trip

If you grant permission and start metered tracking, Taxometer uses precise location in the foreground and background to estimate distance, time, and fare. Saved trip records may include GPS points, timestamps, speed, and accuracy. Tracking is not required for fixed-price records.

Trips, tariffs, and optional details

Custom tariffs, city and zone settings, trip times, distance, estimated fare, discounts, manually entered or automatically detected pickup and drop-off addresses, receipts, and any taxi profile details you enter are stored locally on your device.

App settings

Language, theme, selected tariff, display preferences, and access settings are stored locally so the app works as configured.

Processing

How the data is used

On-device calculations

Location and trip data are used to calculate an approximate ride price, show an active-trip display, create local history and receipts, and provide statistics. The developer does not operate a server that receives this app data.

Address lookup, sharing, and service providers

When you request an address or enable automatic trip addresses, the app submits the selected coordinates to the operating system’s reverse-geocoding service, which may be provided by Apple or Google. In the web version, coordinates are submitted to the public OpenStreetMap Nominatim service. When you open a saved route map on mobile, map tiles are requested from OpenFreeMap using OpenStreetMap data; those requests disclose network information and the approximate map area being viewed. Taxometer has no developer-operated geocoding or map backend, does not sell personal data, and does not use it for advertising. Data may also leave the app when you share a receipt or contact support. These providers process data under their own policies.

Control

Retention, permissions, and deletion

Local retention

Data remains on your device until you delete a trip or profile, clear the app data, or uninstall Taxometer. Shared files and support emails remain with the recipients you selected.

Your choices

You can pause or finish tracking, use a fixed-price record without GPS metering, keep automatic trip addresses disabled, edit addresses manually, revoke location access in system settings, and delete locally stored information available through the app.
